Inheritance Tax Efficiency: the Use of Deeds of Variation of a Deceased Person’s Estate

The notion of skipping a generation through post-death variations has recently enjoyed exposure in the press. The use of Deeds of Variation has been a ‘political football’ for some time and it should be made very clear that succession planning should not be structured around the assumption that an entitlement under a Will or intestacy can be varied. Solicitor Munazza Hollingsworth, of Silverman Sherliker’s Private Client department, explains.
